Resin Floor Preparation

Diamond floor grinding for concrete

A high-quality floor isn’t just about the coating, it’s also about the foundations. That’s why we spend as much time preparing the surface as we do coating it with resin...

Arrange a survey

Naturally, the foundations of any resin floor should enable a strong bond to applied resin, whether its new or existing concrete.

Assessing the quality of the underlying concrete is critical – particularly the moisture content. High rates of moisture emission may be unsuitable for some resins, particularly if fresh concrete has been laid or original material that has already been damaged, so careful measurement and interpretation are a must.

At Strandek®, we employ best practices to ensure your resin floor is within specification, meeting the highest standard.

Creating the right finish

Whether your floor is new or undergoing replacement, a flat underlying surface with the right amount of roughness is paramount to ensuring a strong bond between the resin and the concrete. We, therefore, employ high-performance concrete preparation

Captive shot blasting

Used on existing and new concrete floors, the surface is blasted with steel grit, using purpose-built walk-behind machines or ride machines. Ideal for removing paint, increasing adhesion strength and exposing stronger underlying concrete it is an excellent solution for your floor.

Diamond grinding

Diamond floor grinding is surface preparation tool that uses fast-spinning diamond pads to grind down hard surfaces. A superior technique to captive shot blasting, it enables a high-gloss, polished surface, eliminating grooves and removing surface coatings such as paint, adhesives and weaker concrete to expose stronger, smoother and more durable underlying concrete. Used either to prepare underlying concrete prior to a resin coating or to regenerate existing concrete, this system is the gold standard in high-performance flooring.
