Primary Containment Storage Tanks

Primary containment vessels are designed to house and store large quantities of liquids. Their purpose is to hold chemicals for extended periods safely and without contamination.

Why do storage tanks break down?

Tanks are often made of three main substrate types: concrete, steel and fibreglass (GRP). These provide structural support for the storage tank structure. However, they are susceptible to accelerated breakdown.

Protective linings for storage tanks

In instances where aggressive chemicals are used or if enhanced protection is desired, protective tank linings may be applied to the internal surfaces of the tank, particularly for concrete and steel.

These linings are a form of resin-based coatings, which have numerous applications in surface and substrate protection. They are particularly beneficial towards tanks, because they create a seamless, impervious and chemically resistant barrier that is durable and effectively inert to any stored liquids.
